The 2021 Listening challenge

We did a listening challenge a few years ago (if you keep digging backwards in this blog you'll find it) now it's time for the 2021 edition.

The Rules -

1. listen/watch the tunes. A new one each week or so, for 6 weeks.

2. Write a word or two in the comment box. At the end I'll choose one person who does and award them a... a... a.... an arrangement at their level, of anything they want, within reason and my skills!

Youth - this might be the way to get a nice arrangement of a pop tune that I don't know yet! Oldsters - that may be true as well - I'm not that good at pop music.

We'll begin with such a nice O'carolan set!

Natalie Cox and her musical buddies on cello and harp play the most beautiful arrangements of Turlough O'Carolan here -

Beautiful and stylish playing - so so good.

Truly a delightful arrangement of these O’Carolan tunes. The trio are well matched and the individual sections allow each musician to showcase their instrument, while together they play as a balanced unit.

I cried during the first part and then the second and third parts were so uplifting. Thank you for finding this and sharing it with us.

Oh my!! I thought I'd listen while I put groceries away, but everything just thawed on the counter, as I was compelled to stop when I heard the first notes being played. I've always loved the harp & cello combination, but the addition of the flute just added that extra special element. Loved this! Had to play it again. :)

I really liked the dream and the concerto. I saw online that some people think led zeppelin's stairway to heaven sounds like Ocarolan's dream, but I don't hear it...
